Itanagar, March 17 A delegation of former MLAs from Nagaland called on the Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, Tesam Pongte, at his office here on Tuesday.

Led by former Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly, Neiba Ndang, the delegation also included former ministers V Kashiho Sangtam and ex-MLAs R Tohanba, Azheto, and Ishak Konyak, who are on a study tour of Arunachal Pradesh.

The visit aimed at exchanging experiences on legislative practices, strengthening inter-state cooperation, and gaining insights into the functioning of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, an official report said.

Pongte extended a warm welcome and interacted with them on various aspects of legislative functioning and governance.

The discussions covered matters of mutual interest concerning the eight Northeastern states, including welfare issues for people from the region.

The delegation also shared perspectives on concerns of former legislators, such as pension provisions, security arrangements, ex-gratia benefits, and other welfare measures.

The meeting provided an opportunity for cordial exchange of views on legislative practices and strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation among the Northeastern states, the report added.
