Novak Expresses Concerns About Sydney Sweeney's Portrayal.webp

Los Angeles, March 29 Former actress Kim Novak doesn't believe Sydney Sweeney is the right choice to portray her in "Scandalous".

"Scandalous," directed by Colman Domingo, centers on the 1950s Hollywood romance between Sammy Davis Jr. and Novak. The project was announced in October 2024, with Sweeney attached to play the role of Novak and David Jonsson in the role of Davis.

"I would never have approved... She sticks out so much above the waist," Novak, 93, told The Times in an interview.

"There's no way it wouldn't be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney always looks sexy...She was totally wrong to play me," she added.

Novak and Davis had a brief, secret interracial romance in 1957, which was not welcomed by studio heads and the mob. The couple met on The Steve Allen Show.

Their relationship ended due to intense pressure from Hollywood studio heads, particularly Columbia Pictures boss Harry Cohn, who feared interracial backlash and threatened Davis's life. Under pressure, Davis was forced into a hasty marriage with Loray White in 1958. The couple divorced a year later.

Novak was married to Richard Johnson between 1965 and 1966. She later married Robert Malloy, who died in 2020.

"Scandalous" is produced by Tani Cohen, Bobby Rock, and Sweeney.
