
February 27, Kohima: Mmhonlumo Kikon, a former legislator from Nagaland and the former BJP in-charge for Mizoram, has been appointed as the General Secretary (Political) of the National People's Party (NPP), effective immediately.
This appointment was made by the NPP's National President, Conrad K. Sangma, exercising the powers granted under Article 11 of the party's Constitution.
In his new role, Mr. Kikon has been tasked with establishing structured coordination and dialogue with various political parties and stakeholders across the Northeastern states, to ensure strategic alignment and consultations towards the realization of the "One Northeast" vision.
He will also coordinate with State Presidents and office-bearers across states to review political developments, electoral preparedness, and inter-state organizational matters.
Additionally, Mr. Kikon has been tasked with holding regular consultations with elected Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies, and other elected representatives of the party to ensure policy coherence and political coordination.
Mr. Kikon will design and oversee dedicated political programs, consultations, conventions, and outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing the party's presence and reach.
