Observer Recalled for Lack of Constituency Information.webp

New Delhi, April 8 The Election Commission recalled its general observer from a West Bengal constituency on Wednesday for failing to provide basic information about the constituency he was assigned to.

Officials said during a briefing of the observers by the EC, it was found that Anurag Yadav, General Observer for Cooch Behar Dakshin, did not know the number of polling stations in his assembly constituency.

He was immediately recalled by the order of the commission.

West Bengal will go to the polls in two phases on April 23 and 29.

The EC deploys general, expenditure, and police observers in states going to the polls to act as its eyes and ears.

They report to the poll authority about various aspects from the ground to help it take corrective steps.
