
Bhubaneswar, March 12 A man is alleged to have killed his wife, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter in Deogarh district, Odisha, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday night at Gariapali village, under the jurisdiction of the Kundheigola police station in Deogarh district, they said.
According to the preliminary report, Ramesh Garia (52) had an argument with his wife, Gul. He then attacked his wife, who ran to the room of her daughter-in-law, Lipi Mahakul. Ramesh followed her and assaulted Gul, Lipi, and their six-year-old granddaughter. They were killed by a heavy object, said Deogarh SP Anik Kumar Mishra.
"The bodies were recovered and sent for postmortem. The police have launched a search to apprehend Ramesh Garia," the SP said.
Ramesh's son, Dhiren Garia, who works as a driver, was away from home when his father allegedly killed his mother, wife, and daughter.
Dhiren, upon returning home, found the bodies and informed the Kundheigola police.
Police said Ramesh fled the village after the incident.
