
Bhubaneswar, April 3 The mercury rose to 40 degrees Celsius and above at nine locations in Odisha on Friday, with Jharsuguda recording the day's highest temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius.
According to a bulletin from the IMD, Angul recorded a day temperature of 40.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Titlagarh and Bhadrak (40.5 degrees C), Hirakud (40.4 degrees C), and Bolangir (40.3 degrees C).
Sambalpur, Talcher, and Paralakhemundi recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees C during the day, the IMD said.
The recorded maximum day temperature was 38.7 degrees C in the state capital Bhubaneswar and 38.4 degrees C in the neighboring city of Cuttack.
There will be no significant change in the maximum temperature on Saturday. However, the bulletin stated that the mercury is expected to gradually fall by 2-3 degrees C over the next two days.
Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to occur in the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri, the bulletin stated.
