
Phulbani (Odisha), March 10 A man allegedly shot and killed his wife and injured another person in Odisha's Kandhamal district after suspecting they were having an extra-marital affair, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place near Bagarimunda village in the Gochhapada police station area on Monday, and the accused has been apprehended, a police officer said.
Biranchi Behera of Sarupada village shot at Norottam Behera, who was admitted to a local hospital and later transferred to the district headquarters hospital in a serious condition.
Later, Biranchi shot and killed his wife at their home, and she died on the spot before any medical assistance could reach her, the officer said.
A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, Gochhapada inspector-in-charge Sanjit Behera said.
According to the preliminary investigation, Biranchi suspected that Norottam and his wife were having an illicit relationship, he added.
