Bhubaneswar/Balasore, March 19 Five people were killed in two separate road accidents in the Ganjam and Balasore districts of Odisha on Thursday, police said.

Three people who were travelling on a motorcycle died after their motorcycle collided with a bus at the Patapalli village under the Sorada police station in the Ganjam district, the police said.

The police, with the help of locals, took them to the Sorada hospital, where they were declared dead.

In another accident, the driver and helper of a potato-laden truck were killed when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled down 20 feet into a ditch.

The accident occurred on a bridge near Talanagar on NH-16 under the Soro police station in the Balasore district. The truck was travelling from Chandrakona in the Medinipur district of West Bengal to Pattamundai in Odisha, a police officer said.

The Soro police reached the spot and took the duo to the Soro hospital, where doctors declared them dead, he said.
