Bengaluru, March 31 Three traffic police personnel attached to the city's High Grounds Traffic Police Station have been suspended for allegedly collecting money illegally from motorists in the name of fines while deliberately keeping their body-worn cameras off, officials said.
They reportedly collected money from motorists, despite there being no visible traffic violations, by extending their duty hours, official sources said.
Based on preliminary inquiries following multiple public complaints, three traffic police personnel—an Assistant Sub-Inspector and two constables—have been suspended by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic West).
According to officials, there were multiple complaints about harassment and unauthorized vehicle checks, as well as the collection of money in the name of a fine.
They also said that the three did not follow the rules that mandate field officers to keep their body-worn cameras active during enforcement.
