'Oh Butterfly': Trailer Hints at a Complex Love Story and Mystery.webp

Chennai, February 26 – Director RJ Balaji has released a gripping trailer for the upcoming romantic crime thriller, "Oh Butterfly," directed by Vijay Ranganathan, which stars Nivedhitha Sathish.

In a post on his X account, RJ Balaji wrote, "The past never truly disappears; it just waits for the lights to dim. I am pleased to launch the trailer for #OhButterfly. I wish the entire team all the best. #OhButterflyFromMar6."

The film, produced by Vennky, Anand S Shah, Vijay Ranganathan, and Nisha Patial, also features a cast including Ciby, Nasser, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Geetha Kailasam, and Attul in key roles.

The trailer opens with a couple arriving at a hill station for their honeymoon. It is clear that the honeymoon is happening after a long time, and the husband is happy that it is finally happening. However, the wife, named Gouri (played by Nivedhitha Sathish), does not appear particularly happy with either the honeymoon or the wedding. She refuses to have a physical relationship with her husband. This frustrates him. We also learn that he has lost his job and has been in a state of restlessness ever since.

It is under these circumstances that Gouri's husband introduces his college friend, Suri, to her. The trailer suggests that Suri is Gouri's ex-boyfriend, and he tries to get closer to her. However, a series of intense events unfold. The trailer ends with Gouri saying, "To the police, to my parents, and to everyone else, this may seem like an accident. But I was the one who killed him."

The trailer shows Nasser as a lepidopterist (someone who collects butterflies and moths). He considers them to be God's angels, as they can fly. The director uses his character to emphasize the importance of enjoying the present without worrying about the future. When Nasser's character is asked why he chose butterflies as his pets, given that their lifespan is only 15 days, he replies, "What is important is how happy we are during those 15 days."

Technically, the film features music by talented composer Vaisakh Somanath and cinematography by Vedaraman Sankaran. The film's editing is done by Bhuvanesh Manivannan. The songs in the film were written by Karthik Netha, Vijay Ranganathan, and Vignesh Srikanth. The costumes in the film were designed by Tina Rosario. The story of the film was written by director Vijay Ranganathan himself, with additional screenplay by Harish Rajagopal.
