Patna, February 22 Two brothers were shot dead by unidentified assailants at a wedding reception in a village here late Sunday evening, police said.
According to preliminary investigation, Manjeet Kumar and Manish Kumar, aged between 25 and 27, were killed over an old dispute, police said.
The incident took place in Shahpur village, under the jurisdiction of Gopalpur police station.
"Police received a call that two brothers were shot at by some unidentified persons at the wedding reception of the son of a local resident, Daulat Rai. Police immediately reached the spot and took the duo to the nearest government hospital, where they were declared brought dead," Superintendent of Police, Patna East, Parichay Kumar told reporters.
Police recovered three spent cartridges from the spot and efforts are being made to apprehend the accused. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the officer said.
Prima facie, it appears that the two were killed over some old dispute, possibly related to property, Kumar said.
