Oli Arrest Sparks Demonstrations and Security Response in Kathmandu.webp

March 28, New Delhi: Following the arrest of UML party Chairman KP Sharma Oli, members of the CPN-UML staged protests across the Kathmandu Valley. In protest against the arrest, affiliated organizations demonstrated by burning tires outside the District Court in Babar Mahal. Several groups also launched a protest march from Maitighar Mandala.

As demonstrators attempted to move towards a restricted area, police intervened, leading to a brief scuffle and a tense situation. While police dispersed the protesters, groups continued to move forward. The procession from Maitighar towards New Baneshwor reached Babar Mahal, where members blocked traffic by burning tires and raised slogans against the government, demanding Oli's immediate release. Heavy security has been deployed in the Babar Mahal and Maitighar areas.
