In a major crackdown on organized gold smuggling, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has launched Operation Dhahabu Blitz, resulting in the recovery of over 25 kilograms of gold bars and 4.27 kilograms of gold jewelry that were being illegally smuggled into the country. DRI officials identified a group of women acting as carriers, arriving from Nairobi, attempting to smuggle large quantities of gold.
