
Khunti, March 25 Four individuals have been arrested and 6.3 kg of opium seized from their possession in the Khunti district of Jharkhand, police said on Wednesday.
Based on a tip-off, a police team conducted raids and recovered the opium and 40 kg of poppy husk, worth approximately Rs 36 lakh, from the houses of two accused, SP Manish Toppo said.
"All four arrested accused are residents of the Khunti district. They have been in contact with opium smugglers from Haryana, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh for a long time," he said.
Further investigation is underway.
