Opposition Protests Government's Lack of Presence.webp

Mumbai, March 24 The Maharashtra legislative assembly was briefly adjourned on Tuesday after opposition MLAs objected to the absence of ministers in the House during a discussion, causing a commotion.

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar was speaking in the assembly when Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar intervened and cited the absence of ministers.

He claimed that the state government was not giving importance to the opposition.

"We are trying to raise some serious issues. However, the state government and its ministers have ignored the House. They are not even present here from the government side," Wadettiwar pointed out.

State Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, who was present at the time, informed the House that he would send a message to ensure that a couple of ministers arrive and take their seats in the assembly.

NCP (SP) MLAs Jitendra Awhad and others, however, continued to raise objections and demanded action over the absence of ministers.

Following the commotion, presiding officer Raju Khare adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
