Pak Activist Condemns Statue Damage in Karachi.webp

Karachi, April 3 The idols of Lord Krishna and the Gopis were allegedly defiled at a historic building in Pakistan's financial capital, Karachi, a Hindu social activist in Pakistan claimed on Friday.

Shiva Kachhi, Chairman of Pakistan Darawar Ittehad, said the defilement of the statues at the historic Sagan Mason building in Karachi is deeply and strongly condemnable.

"We strongly condemn this shameful act," he said, adding that the incident occurred two days ago.

"This is not just damage to a structure, but an attack on Pakistan's multicultural heritage, religious harmony, and the sentiments of minority communities," he said in a post on social media.

The government needs to investigate the incident and take action against the perpetrators, as the act has deeply hurt the Hindu community, he added.

"The perpetrators must be arrested without delay and given strict punishment. Immediate restoration and protection of this historic building must be ensured,” he said.

Built in the pre-Independence days in 1937, the building houses valuable idols and other religious symbols of the Hindu community.

Kachhi said the government should also ensure the protection of the historic building and other minority religious and historical sites.
