Islamabad, April 3 A strong earthquake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, shook Pakistan on Friday night, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or damage to property caused by the earthquake in any part of Pakistan, officials said.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the earthquake was recorded at 9:13 pm, with a depth of 190 kilometers.

The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan at latitude 36.48°N and longitude 70.84°E.

The tremor was felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and parts of Punjab.

Pakistan is located in a seismically active zone due to its location on the boundary of the Arabian Sea, the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the country on February 20, while a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit its Balochistan province on February 13.

The earthquake was preceded by another tremor of magnitude 3.8 on the same day.

The worst earthquake the country experienced was in 2005, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 74,000 people.
