Kandy (Sri Lanka), February 27. Pakistan will face co-hosts Sri Lanka in their final match of the Super 8s stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be held at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy on Saturday.
Pakistan is entering the match after suffering a close defeat against the two-time champions, England, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have been eliminated from the tournament after consecutive defeats against England and New Zealand in their first two Super 8s matches.
This will be the 30th time that the two teams will face each other in T20Is. Pakistan has a clear advantage in the head-to-head record between the two teams from the subcontinent. Pakistan has won 17 out of the 29 matches played between them, while Sri Lanka has only won 12.
However, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are closely matched in the history of the T20 World Cup. Both teams have played each other four times in the multi-national tournament, with Pakistan winning two matches, while Sri Lanka has also won two.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka last met in the shortest format in January 2026, where the three-match series in Sri Lanka ended in a 1-1 draw.
