New Delhi, March 18 Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Wednesday that Rs 10 lakh would be provided ex gratia to the families of adult deceased persons, and Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of those who were minors and died in the Palam fire incident.

"The Delhi government stands firmly with the affected families and will ensure all possible support. Financial assistance is being provided," Gupta said in a post on X.

She announced "Rs 10 lakh each to the families of deceased adults, Rs 5 lakh each to the families of deceased minors, and Rs 2 lakh each to those seriously injured."

"We are committed to ensuring relief, support, and all necessary assistance during this difficult time," she added.

Nine members of a family, including a 70-year-old woman and three of her granddaughters, were killed after a massive fire tore through a multi-story residential building in southwest Delhi's Palam area on Wednesday morning, officials said.

Three others were injured, two of whom jumped from the building at Ram Chowk Market near the Palam Metro Station in a desperate attempt to escape the flames, they said.
