Palaniswami: NDA Alliance Strong for Tamil Nadu Election

New Delhi/Chennai, March 3 The AIADMK will soon begin talks with its allies regarding seat allocation, its chief Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Tuesday, and asserted that there was no confusion within the NDA led by the party in the state, as speculated in the media.

Confusion seems to exist only within the DMK combine, and it is not clear whether the Congress will continue to be part of the alliance, he said.

“We have formed a strong alliance in Tamil Nadu, and the AIADMK-led NDA will ensure victory in the upcoming Assembly election, and the AIADMK will form the government,” Palaniswami, the general secretary of the AIADMK, told reporters in the national capital before departing for Chennai.

He had called on BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence on March 2 and discussed the political situation in Tamil Nadu and the possibility of jointly contesting the election.

“We will begin talks with our allies regarding seat allocation,” he said in response to a question, adding that there was no need to rush as the election schedule had not yet been announced.

When asked if any new parties would join the NDA, the former CM replied, “There is a possibility of some parties joining soon. We are currently in talks.”

Regarding whether the party announced by expelled leader V K Sasikala would also join, he retorted, "There was no discussion on this."
