
Palghar, March 3 Five workers were hospitalized after an ammonia gas leak at an Amul Milk plant in Virar, Maharashtra, on Tuesday morning, police said.
The incident occurred at the plant located at Kaner Phata while workers were performing routine maintenance of the refrigeration system, according to an official.
The affected workers were taken to a hospital in Pelhar, said senior inspector Ranjit Andhale of the Mandovi police station.
"Our team, along with Fire Brigade personnel, immediately responded to the alert. The leak was contained, and the situation is currently under control," he said.
The surrounding residential area has been declared safe, the official added.
