Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, announced today that a shipment of bulk granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) has arrived at the Pandu Port in Guwahati from Kolkata via the India-Bangladesh Protocol Route. In a social media post, he stated that the Brahmaputra River is rapidly becoming a thriving trade and logistics corridor under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further stated that the government is ensuring smooth cargo movement on National Waterway-2 to promote the growth of Assam and the Northeast.

GBFS is used as a high-performance, eco-friendly partial replacement for cement in concrete, improving durability and reducing carbon emissions.
