Union Minister Piyush Goyal criticized the Congress party today, accusing it of attempting to avoid a debate scheduled in the Lok Sabha. Speaking to journalists in Parliament, Mr. Goyal stated that the notice of a no-confidence motion against the Speaker was accepted at the Congress's request, although some amendments were necessary in the draft before acceptance. He said that the date for the discussion was determined after appropriate deliberation. He further stated that when the motion had already been accepted and a debate was scheduled for today, the Congress introduced another motion at the same time. He accused the Congress party of not understanding parliamentary practices or respecting constitutional procedures.
