Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, J.P. Nadda, today criticized the opposition for their behavior during Mr. Jaishankar's statement on the West Asia conflict, stating that their interest is not in debate but in causing chaos. He said the opposition's primary concern is not discussion but creating disorder. Nadda also cited similar incidents from previous parliamentary sessions, particularly the discussions on electoral reforms in December 2025 and the space programme, when the opposition walked out. He stated that the opposition walked out during the discussion on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack, as well as the Waqf Bill, which is detrimental to parliamentary democracy. He accused the opposition of having no interest in Viksit Bharat or Atmanirbhar Bharat, but rather focusing on political maneuvering. Earlier, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, stated that the escalation in the West Asia conflict would affect the country's economic stability and endanger the security and livelihoods of Indian citizens working there. Kharge made these remarks while moving a notice seeking a short-duration discussion on "emerging challenges for India's energy security" in the Rajya Sabha.
