The Kathua District Administration organized special village meetings and awareness programs at the Government Primary School, Bobiya, to develop village-level development plans under the "Vibrant Villages Programme" of the Indian Government.
The program was presided over by MLA Vijay Kumar Sharma of Hiranagar and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, with enthusiastic participation from local residents.
Village meetings were held for the border villages of Bobiya and Karol Krishna to ensure participatory planning and the preparation of development plans tailored to local needs, aimed at improving socio-economic conditions. Designated officers presented draft development plans incorporating public feedback, inviting further suggestions for inclusion in the final document.
Residents, including former members of the Panchayati Raj Institution, raised issues related to civic amenities, infrastructure gaps, and the development of a tourist circuit along the border. Officials assured that these concerns would be addressed.
The MLA urged participants to highlight any remaining issues to ensure inclusive planning. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of stakeholder involvement, the saturation of eligible beneficiaries under welfare schemes, and phased infrastructure development in border areas.
He informed that similar awareness camps would be organized in other border villages to transform them into model habitations under the program.
District and sectoral officers briefed residents on various welfare schemes, while officials issued immediate instructions for the timely resolution of public grievances.
