Patna, March 16 BJP national president Nitin Nabin said on Monday that this year's Ram Navami celebrations in Patna will be as grand as West Bengal's Durga Puja and Maharashtra's Ganesh Chaturthi.
Nabin, who has been organizing Ram Navami processions in the city for years as a Bihar MLA, said that this year's turnout will be "record-breaking".
The 45-year-old leader, who was appointed to the top party post two months ago, revealed plans of the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra Abhinandan Samiti, of which he is the convenor, at a press conference here.
"This year's Ram Navami in Patna will be historic. The scale will be on par with the Durga Puja in West Bengal and Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra," Nabin said.
"The number of processions converging at Dak Bungalow crossing here, which earlier used to be eight, will be 52 this year. The city will be covered with thousands of large and more than one lakh small saffron flags. We also appeal to all city residents to hoist 'Mahavir Dhwaj' (flags bearing the image of Lord Hanuman) on their rooftops," he said.
However, Nabin declined to answer questions as to whether, in order to make the event grand, he would invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
The BJP president also did not take questions on the biennial elections to five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar, in which he is in the fray as one of the ruling NDA's candidates.
