April 5, New Delhi: Amid ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed a willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for possible peace talks.

During his visit to Istanbul, Zelenskyy stated that he is ready for direct negotiations with Putin to end the conflict. This statement followed meetings with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Zelenskyy also announced expanded security cooperation with Turkey following his talks with President Erdogan. Erdogan, in turn, reiterated Turkey's support for efforts aimed at facilitating peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is anticipating a delegation from the United States, led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to visit Kyiv later this month, as renewed efforts are being made to restart peace talks.

The Ukrainian presidential office stated that progress has been made on security guarantees, with the United States continuing its role as a mediator between the two countries.

The last round of talks between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations took place in Florida on March 21.
