Gurugram, March 25 A pharmacy student and his friend were brutally beaten on Sohna Road under the Bhondsi police station area here, with police registering a case naming five suspects in connection with the incident, an official said on Wednesday.

The complaint – filed by Naman Bokan, a resident of Hasanpur village in Sector 76, and a third-year pharmacy student at K R Mangalam University, Sohna – alleges that on March 18, while returning home from college on a motorcycle with his friend Vivek, five men in a Kia car began following them.

As they were travelling over the Maruti Kunj flyover, the accused approached them from behind and attempted to stop their motorcycle by cutting them off with their car. However, the motorcyclists managed to escape.

After a short chase, the accused grabbed Naman and Vivek from behind, forcing them to stop the motorcycle, and began beating the two, the complaint states.

"After this, Shyam Khatana, Kunal Lohiya, Ronit, Kavya, and Krish got out of the car and started beating me and Vivek. Vivek ran towards the road to save himself, but the five men threw him on the road and beat him mercilessly," the complaint reads.

Following the incident, the accused fled the scene. Naman then informed his brother, who rushed him to a hospital, it adds.

A senior police officer said that an FIR has been registered against the five suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
