
During his two-day visit to Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a special program held at the Jyoti-Bishnu International Convention Centre in Khanapara on Friday.
At the event, the Prime Minister transferred the 22nd installment of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi to the bank accounts of approximately 9.3 crore farmers across the country.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister also inaugurated several key projects, including the 120 MW Lower Kopili Hydroelectric Project, the Unity Mall, the capacity expansion of the Numaligarh–Siliguri Product Pipeline, and the first phase of the North East Gas Grid Project.
He also laid the foundation stones for multiple projects, including the rail-linked PLO terminal of Numaligarh Refinery Limited and the Furkating–Tinsukia railway line double-tracking project, among others.
Later, the Prime Minister distributed land deeds to tea garden workers. During the program, more than 3.5 lakh tea workers from 707 tea gardens across Assam were provided with land deeds on Friday.
The distribution of land deeds to tea workers has been described as a historic step towards granting land rights to tea garden workers in Assam.
