
Mumbai, April 6 A 52-year-old man was arrested on charges of murder within 24 hours of the crime near the Churchgate railway station here, police said on Monday.
Police launched an investigation after the body of Rahul Panjwani (55), also known as Punjabi, was found on Saturday near the Churchgate bus depot.
Panjwani was killed by striking him with a heavy stone following a heated argument over a dispute.
Four special teams were formed to scrutinize multiple CCTV footage from the area and conduct technical surveillance analysis.
Combining witness accounts with video evidence, they identified Anand Pandurang Jadhav, a resident of Fort in south Mumbai.
Jadhav was arrested within 24 hours of the filing of the FIR under section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The accused was produced in court, which granted four days of police custody, he said.
