Indore, April 3 Three members of a "honey trap" gang, including two women, were arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly extorting money from a former soldier after threatening to file a rape case against him, a police official said on Friday.
One of the women contacted the complainant on social media and invited him to a resort on Wednesday, where two of her accomplices arrived, Badgonda police station in-charge Prakash Vaskale said.
"They threatened to implicate the former soldier in a rape case and demanded Rs 2 lakh from him. We have also learned that the gang trapped another man and extorted Rs 28,000 from him," Vaskale said.
Action has also been taken against the resort, he added.
"The resort was not recording the details of the occupants in the prescribed format. The resort has been sealed and its operator has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for disobeying orders promulgated by a public servant," the official said.
