Police Detain Alleged Smuggler in J-K.webp

Jammu, March 31 The Jammu and Kashmir Police has detained a repeat offender and alleged cattle smuggler under the Public Safety Act, officials said.

The accused, identified as Amit Kumar, a resident of Phinder in the R S Pura tehsil of the Jammu district, was detained following his repeated involvement in cattle smuggling cases, they said.

Acting on the directions of the District Magistrate, Kathua, a detention warrant was issued against the accused, they said.

According to the police, Kumar had been evading arrest for several months and was involved in multiple cases registered at Hiranagar and Lakhanpur police stations under relevant provisions of the BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Following the detention, the accused has been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu, they added.
