Lucknow, April 8 Police said on Wednesday that a 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in the Ashiyana area of Lucknow.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the victim, who knew the accused, was taken to a secluded location, according to the police, quoting the complaint filed by the girl's family.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Lucknow) Vikrant Vir said that the police received information about the incident through the 112 emergency service, a complaint was filed, and the accused was apprehended.
DCP Vir said that a forensic team, along with other police officials, visited the scene to inspect and collect evidence.
Police said that the girl has been sent for medical examination.
They said that a case has been registered against the accused at the Ashiyana Police Station, and further legal action is underway.
