Bengaluru, April 1 A registrar of the Karnataka State Nursing Council was arrested here following allegations of sexual harassment at the workplace, police said on Wednesday.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by a female colleague at the Upparpet Police Station on March 26, they said.

According to police, in her complaint, the woman stated that she worked at the council where a person serving as the registrar had been sexually harassing her.

She alleged that she was being harassed by him, the report said.

"Based on her complaint, we registered an FIR at the Upparpet Police Station. Later, a notice was issued to him, but when he did not respond, we took him into custody yesterday (Tuesday) and produced him before the court," said Yathish N, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

The investigation is currently ongoing under the court's supervision. Further details will emerge as the probe progresses, he added.
