Amritsar, March 30 A man was shot dead at close range by unidentified assailants in a border village in Amritsar on Monday, police said.
The deceased, identified as Sohna Singh, was travelling from Rajatal to Khera village when the assailants intercepted him and opened fire on him from close range, they said.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The assailants fled the scene with Singh's motorcycle and mobile phone after committing the crime.
A team from the Gharinda police station rushed to the scene after the incident.
The police said that an investigation has been launched, and the team is reviewing CCTV footage from the area to gather evidence and identify the assailants.
