Pilibhit (UP), March 15 A 17-year-old boy has been booked for allegedly sodomizing an 11-year-old in a village here, police said on Sunday.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother.
Gajraula Police Station House Officer (SHO) Brajveer Singh told reporters that the victim is undergoing a medical examination. His statements will be recorded before a magistrate soon.
According to the police, the incident occurred on March 10 at 4 PM. The accused allegedly approached the 11-year-old and lured him to a sugarcane field on the outskirts of the village, pretending to pick berries.
"The complaint states that the accused sodomized the child in the field. When the victim resisted and raised an alarm, the accused allegedly assaulted him and threatened to kill him if he told anyone about the incident," a police officer said.
The child returned home in a distressed state and narrated the ordeal to his family members. The family then approached the Gajraula police station and lodged a complaint.
The police filed an FIR on Saturday evening and initiated an investigation. Efforts are on to apprehend the accused teenager, the officer added.
