Srinagar, March 13: The Jammu & Kashmir Police in Ganderbal inaugurated the Police Martyr’s Volleyball Tournament at Chattergul, Kangan, as part of the Civic Action Programme. The programme aims to promote sportsmanship, youth engagement, and strengthen relations between the police and the public.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by SDPO Kangan, Shri Rajeev Raina-JKPS, along with SHO Kangan, Inspector Younis Ahmad Khan, who were the chief guests. During the inauguration, SDPO Kangan highlighted the importance of sports in channeling the energy of youth towards constructive activities and keeping them away from social evils. He also paid tribute to the brave Police Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the peace and security of the nation.
A total of 16 teams from the Sub-Division of Kangan are participating in the tournament, making it a vibrant platform for young players to showcase their talent and sportsmanship. Local youth, sports enthusiasts, and members of the community attended the inauguration ceremony and appreciated the initiative of the Police to organize such events to encourage healthy competition and foster stronger community bonds.
