Political Fallout: Sapkal Questions BJP's Interest in Shinde.webp

Mumbai, March 24 Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal has criticized Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over the election of the Satara Zilla Parishad president, saying that the BJP no longer needs him or his party, the Shiv Sena.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Sapkal said that Shinde is being targeted on various issues, including those related to the Mantralaya (state secretariat), the issue of self-proclaimed godman Ashok Kharat, and the election for the president of the Satara Zilla Parishad.

He stated that Shinde betrayed his own party (the undivided Shiv Sena) and became the chief minister.

"Now, the BJP no longer needs Shinde, which is why it attempted to sway one Shiv Sena MLA in the Satara ZP president election," Sapkal said.

He further added that Shiv Sena minister Shambhuraj Desai was attacked by police (during the Satara ZP president election). "But what does Shinde do?" he asked.

Sapkal concluded by saying that Shinde expressed his anger in the state assembly.

The Maharashtra Congress president claimed that the BJP will gradually lure all Shiv Sena MLAs.
