Mumbai, March 16 Members of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP created a commotion in the legislative assembly on Monday, demanding an apology from NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awahad for "insulting" Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, leading to a brief adjournment of proceedings.
MLAs from the Mahayuti parties rushed to the well and shouted slogans, prompting the speaker to adjourn the House for ten minutes in the evening.
After the House reassembled, MLAs from the ruling parties demanded Awahad's suspension.
Speaker Rahul Narwekar directed Awahad to apologize to the assembly while removing his remarks from the proceedings.
