Political Sentiment in Tamil Nadu: Rijiju's Assessment.webp

Chennai, March 21 The people of Tamil Nadu are temperamentally very scientific, skilled in technical education and science, but they also love films, movie stars, and have built a cult-like respect and stature for actors, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Saturday.

Without mentioning anyone, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said that the people of the state were a "very interesting society."

"The people of Tamil Nadu are so talented; they can achieve great things if they have good governance," the minister told reporters here.

The BJP leader, who was in the city and attended a private function and addressed law students, said that ground reports from the state indicated that there was "discontentment" among the people and that the "anti-incumbency factor is unprecedented."

"There is a very strong anti-incumbency sentiment in Tamil Nadu. Therefore, the NDA will come to power. People are unhappy with the DMK government. Therefore, the NDA will form the government in Tamil Nadu. This is what the ground situation reports indicate," he said.

In response to a question, Rijiju replied, "The people of Tamil Nadu are temperamentally very scientific, skilled in technical education and science, and they also love films and film stars. They have built a cult-like respect and stature for film stars. It is a very interesting society."

He added that the people of Tamil Nadu were so talented that they would create great things if they were provided with good governance.

On the impact of the Gulf War on India, he said that although the impact was felt globally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre "very efficiently managed the economy."
