Prateek Bordoloi withdraws candidacy from Margherita seat

In a significant political development ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, Prateek Bordoloi, who was set to contest the assembly election on a Congress ticket from the Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency, has withdrawn his candidacy.

In a letter addressed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Bordoloi stated that his decision comes in the wake of his father, Pradyut Bordoloi, recently quitting the Indian National Congress and joining another political party.

While expressing his respect for the party, Prateek stated that following his father's decision to join another political party, he felt it would not be appropriate for him to continue as a candidate.

Emphasizing his respect for the organization, Prateek said he arrived at the decision with a sense of responsibility. He also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the trust placed in him.

He further stated that he will continue to work for the party and for the development of Margherita in whatever capacity the leadership deems appropriate.
