Political Tensions Rise in Tripura as TMP Chief Criticizes CM.webp

Agartala, April 4 Tipra Motha party chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma accused Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha of making "anti-Tiprasa" remarks on Saturday, a day after Saha mocked his proposal for a Greater Tipraland, which involves incorporating parts of Bangladesh.

Addressing a rally for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections at Dasda in North Tripura district, Debbarma alleged that he had been humiliated by the CM in the run-up to the tribal council polls.

"The truth is that the CM has not faced any real challenge yet. Someone has helped him from the beginning, and he won the elections. I have been humiliated over the past few days," he said.

Debbarma also invoked his lineage, saying, "My forefathers of the Manikya dynasty fought for the Tiprasa people for over a thousand years, and I will continue to stand by my people till my last breath."

Debbarma urged voters to elect TMP candidate Umasankar Reang from the Kanchanpur-Dasda constituency, accusing the BJP of trying to break the unity of indigenous communities ahead of the polls.

"The poor people of Tiprasa will be even poorer if the BJP wins. I urge indigenous voters to support TMP for the future of our youth, women, and children, rejecting all temptations," he said.

Although the TMP is an ally of the BJP-led state government, it is contesting against the saffron party in the upcoming TTAADC elections.

Voting for the 28 seats is scheduled for April 12, with counting on April 17.
