
Ludhiana, March 29 Ace cueist Pankaj Advani of PSPB dominated Piyush Kushwaha to reach the men's semifinal of the 9-ball Pool National Championships here on Sunday.
The multiple-time world champion, known more for his skills in snooker and billiards, achieved a resounding 9-3 victory over the Madhya Pradesh player and set up a semifinal clash with the winner of the match between Kushal C and Kamal Chawla.
The other semifinal will be played between Nitin Sharma and S Shrikrishna.
While Chandigarh's Nitin won 9-6 against Shoaib Khan of Delhi, Shrikrishna easily defeated Sumit Talwar of Chandigarh 9-3.
Advani, who is likely playing only his first major championship in pool, has been a revelation.
The 40-year-old, who has won 28 world titles in billiards and snooker, has had a fantastic performance here.
In the pre-quarter round, the Bengaluru man stunned 10-ball pool champion and favourite Shivam Arora with a comfortable 8-2 victory.
Advani continued his winning streak with a dominant victory over Kushwaha.
At the adjacent table, Advani's PSPB teammate S Shrikrishna defeated Talwar, who is known for his skills in pool.
Shrikrishna, a former 6-red world champion, will face Nitin Sharma of Chandigarh.
Nitin, who seemed to be in control of the match at one point, had to fight hard to defeat Shoaib.
