The Poonch District Social Welfare Department organized a first-of-its-kind Senior Recognition Ceremony in Poonch today to hear the grievances of senior citizens, address their concerns on the spot, and raise awareness about their health and well-being.

The event was inaugurated by Poonch Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma, who praised the initiative of providing a dedicated platform for elderly citizens. He emphasized the importance of ensuring dignity, respect, and timely support for senior citizens and directed officials to ensure prompt redressal of their grievances.

During the program, senior citizens from various parts of the district shared issues related to pensions, healthcare services, and other welfare schemes. Officials from multiple departments were present to resolve concerns on the spot and guide beneficiaries about government schemes meant for their welfare.

The ceremony also focused on raising awareness about healthcare, nutrition, and preventive measures for age-related ailments. Medical experts sensitized participants about the importance of regular health check-ups and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration's commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of senior citizens. He assured that such outreach programs would continue to ensure that the elderly receive proper care, attention, and benefits under various social welfare initiatives.
