Traffic on the Mughal Road remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day due to fresh snowfall and rainfall at Pir Ki Gali, traffic authorities said on Thursday.

Officials stated that the road will remain closed until further orders, as snowfall continues in the upper reaches of the Pir Panjal Range and heavy rains persist in the plains of Poonch. However, all major roads in Poonch district are open for traffic movement.

The closure has been enforced to ensure the safety of commuters travelling through the mountainous stretch, where fresh snowfall has made driving conditions hazardous. SSP Traffic Rural Farooq Qaser advised commuters to avoid travelling on the Mughal Road and urged the public not to move towards the route until it is officially reopened.

Meanwhile, the Border Roads Organisation has intensified snow clearance operations on the Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road, which has been severely affected by heavy snowfall over the past three days. The Chenab Valley remains cut off from Kathua district, disrupting connectivity and movement.

BRO officials said that additional manpower and machinery have been deployed, and clearance work is being carried out on a war footing to restore traffic at the earliest and provide relief to stranded commuters.
