In a significant boost to local tourism, the newly established Tulip Garden at Krishan Chander Park in Poonch has been officially opened to tourists and residents.

Spanning nearly two kanals (approximately 21,760 square feet) at the upper base of the park, the garden is the first of its kind in the district. Featuring over 10,000 tulips of six different varieties, the flowers are arranged in neat, color-coded rows, creating a striking and picturesque landscape. The attraction is drawing visitors not only from Poonch but also from across the Pir Panjal region, including the Rajouri district and Poonch district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, formally declared the garden open to the public. He expressed optimism that the initiative would enhance the district’s tourism appeal and encourage more visitors in the coming days.

Ghulam Rasool from the Floriculture Department said that while tulips were planted on a smaller patch last year, this year the garden has been significantly expanded to two kanals with over 10,000 blooms. He added that the response on the very first day was encouraging, with more than 100 visitors already exploring the garden.

Among the visitors, Shabir Ahmed, a resident of Poonch, said she was excited to see tulips for the first time. “I came early in the morning after hearing that the garden was open to the public. I had never seen tulips before and was eager to visit,” she said.

With its colorful display and scenic surroundings, the Tulip Garden is expected to become a major seasonal attraction, offering a refreshing floral retreat in the hills of Poonch.
