
April 07, New Delhi: Indian boxers continued their impressive performance at the Asian Boxing Championships, with Preeti Pawar leading the way by reaching the women's 54kg final.
She delivered a dominant performance, defeating South Korea's Paris Olympic bronze medalist, Eem Eh-Jee, 5-0 in the semi-final. Preeti will now face a challenging opponent in the final, three-time world champion Huang Hsiao-Wen of Chinese Taipei.
In the 60kg category, Priya also secured her place in the final with a convincing 5-0 victory over Mongolia's Namuun Monkhor. Arundhati also advanced to the final, defeating Uzbekistan's Oyesha Toirova 4-1 in the 70kg semi-final. She will compete against Kazakhstan's Baa-ket Seidish in the title match.
However, it was a mixed day overall, as star boxers Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain suffered defeats in their respective matches.
