
New Delhi, March 6 President Droupadi Murmu has rescheduled her visit to West Bengal and will now travel to Darjeeling on Saturday for a one-day programme, according to a communique.
She was earlier scheduled to leave for Darjeeling on Friday morning for a two-day visit. However, the itinerary was revised following the abrupt resignation of West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose on Thursday.
The president has appointed Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi as the new West Bengal Governor in place of Bose.
"President Murmu will visit Darjeeling, West Bengal, tomorrow (March 7, 2026), where she will grace the 9th International Santal Conference, being organised by the International Santal Council," a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said on Friday.
The president was scheduled to launch the Darjeeling Hill Festival to mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and inaugurate an exhibition -- 'Root and Rhythms' -- at the Lok Bhavan in Darjeeling on Friday.
She was also scheduled to virtually inaugurate the Platinum Jubilee Flagship Programme on Women's Leadership and Empowerment at IIT-Kharagpur on the same day, according to the statement issued on Thursday by her office.
