
March 25, New Delhi – Colombian President Gustavo Petro observed a minute of silence on Tuesday to honor the 69 people who died in a military plane crash.
He had also previously declared three days of national mourning. The Hercules C-130 aircraft, carrying 126 people, crashed after taking off from Puerto Leguizamo near the Peru border.
The injured were taken to hospitals, while the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Petro also highlighted the significant human cost faced by Colombians in their efforts to combat drug trafficking.
