Priyanka Gandhi: West's Moral Authority Diminishing in Middle East Conflict.webp

New Delhi, April 8 Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday criticized "Western powers" for using "despicable language" in the context of the Iran conflict, saying the world is recognizing the situation as the "moral authority" of the West is waning.

The Congress general secretary asserted that hatred, anger, violence, and injustice never prevail, while courage always triumphs.

"Iranian men and women formed human chains around their country's resources while Western powers spoke in a despicable manner, signaling the 'end of a civilization'," Priyanka Gandhi said on X.

"The world is observing and understanding as the veil of morality falls from across the West. Hatred, anger, violence, and injustice never win. Courage always triumphs," she stated.

Iranian officials had called on young people to form human chains around the country's power plants. Iranian media showed people gathering outside electricity stations, waving Iranian flags and holding up banners, according to media reports.

However, the US has agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, proposed by Pakistan. This was announced by US President Donald Trump, 90 minutes before his deadline to "wipe out civilization" from the West Asian nation was to end.

Trump made the dramatic announcement on Truth Social on Tuesday evening (US time) even as Democrats called for his removal over unhinged threats to wipe out the Iranian civilization.

In Tehran, Iran's Supreme National Security Council said it has accepted a two-week ceasefire in the war.

The US and Israel launched the war on Iran on February 28 over Tehran's refusal to give up its stockpile of nuclear fuel.
